What a welcome bonus is
Most welcome bonuses are a deposit match: deposit an amount and the casino adds a percentage of it as bonus funds, up to a stated cap. Others give free spins, and many combine both. Some are a single offer on the first deposit; others are packages spread across the first two to four deposits, with a smaller percentage each time.
Crypto casinos often advertise larger matches than traditional ones, with caps stated in dollars, euros or bitcoin. The cap is converted at the time you deposit, so the amount you can actually claim in your coin moves with the price.
How to compare two offers
A 200% match with a 60x requirement is not automatically better than a 100% match with a 30x requirement. Work out how much you would have to bet to unlock each, using the real base for the multiple.
- Wagering multiplier and its base: bonus only, or deposit plus bonus.
- Time to claim the bonus and time to complete the wagering.
- Maximum bet while the bonus is active.
- Which games count, and how much: slots often count in full, table and live games less or not at all.
- Any cap on how much of the bonus winnings you can withdraw.
- Whether the bonus is released as cash in instalments as you play, or only once the requirement is complete.
Practical tips for crypto deposits
Deposit in a stablecoin such as USDT or USDC if you only want to play, so the value of your balance does not move with the market during a long playthrough. Check the minimum deposit that qualifies for the bonus, and whether a deposit made in a particular coin or by card is excluded. You can usually decline a bonus and play with your own funds, which avoids the wagering requirement and its restrictions altogether.
